Hover
Measure, design, and estimate — all from smartphone photos turned into a 3D model.
Hover turns smartphone photos of a property into a fully measured 3D model, then layers design (visualizing real shingle/siding/trim products on the model), estimating, and proposal generation on top. Unlike satellite-based competitors, someone has to be on-site to capture photos — a workflow strength for accuracy but a bottleneck for high-volume storm-restoration shops. Used primarily as a measurement + visualization tool alongside a separate CRM.
Verisk Xactimate integration expanded in February 2025 — Hover Inspections and Hover Guided Estimates now run inside Xactimate, auto-generating line items from 3D data.
What's included
Measurement → Proposal → CRM coverageHover requires someone on-site capturing photos before it can measure — a real workflow bottleneck for any office-driven sales motion. Artemis generates the design from satellite/AI in 5–15 seconds, no truck roll required, and ships a full proposal in the same step.
How fast a contractor can go from initial measurement to a polished, sendable proposal in front of the homeowner.
Usability of the mobile experience in the field — measuring, quoting, photo capture, and customer signature on a phone or tablet.
How clearly the vendor publishes its pricing. Per-proposal, flat, or seat-based pricing all score higher than hidden, sales-gated pricing.
How quickly a new contractor can go from sign-up to first proposal sent — measured in minutes, hours, or days.
Quality and responsiveness of human support — measured through published response-time SLAs, support channels, and customer-reported experience.
What stood out.
- Best-in-class visual fidelity of 3D property models — repeatedly cited as the most effective client-facing sales tool for premium-material upsell
- Full-exterior measurement (siding, windows, doors, gutters, trim), not just roof — real differentiator vs. roof-only satellite competitors
- Capterra 4.8/5 across 59 reviews — strongest review-aggregator score in the comparison set
- Deep distributor and insurance partnerships (SRS Distribution, RSG, Verisk Xactimate Feb 2025)
- Founder A.J. Altman remains CEO since 2011 — unusual stability for a Series D SaaS
- Cost is the #1 negative across review platforms — per-project pricing called “very high for someone not planning to use the program often”
- Photo submission failures: app requires cellular for authentication, can fail silently — crews discover the failure after leaving the site
- Unverified sales-rep inputs — reps can edit roof pitches and door/window measurements without proof, leading to ordering errors
- On-site capture requirement is a structural limit for high-volume storm-restoration after a hail event
- Last disclosed major funding round was a $60M Series D in November 2020 — no fresh round in 4+ years
